What is the Foundation?

The Will County Foundation was established December 3rd, 1986 to benefit the educational experiences of our Farm Bureau members and their dependents and to carry out charitable, scientific, literary, and educational Work for our Will County Farm Bureau membership. It operates entirely and independently of the Will County Farm Bureau and is governed by a six volunteer board of directors comprised on Will County Farm Bureau members.  The Ex-officio (non-voting) advisory director will consist of the Will County Farm Bureau manager.

What is the Purpose and Mission of the Foundation?

The Foundation solicits and invites its members and friends to contribute to the mainstay of the Foundation work, in the form of contributions.  Donors are not limited to one donation but may elect to give something annually or on a regular basis.

The Foundation’s mission is to acquire and distribute these resources to our membership families in the source of scholarships funds on an annual basis.  The scholarships will be used to support or supplement the scholarship recipient’s college education.

What can I do to support the Foundation?

Gifts or donations to the Foundation are tax deductible.  The Foundation is non-profit, organized under Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS Code.  Gifts or donations of any size are appreciated.

With your support and help, any financial contribution to the Foundation will have a lasting impact on our Farm Bureau Membership.  Contributions will help enhance the quality of education for future generations of our Farm Bureau families by supporting their educational experiences in college.

Types of Donations

Cash/Checks:  Gifts of cash, in any amount, are always welcome and needed.

Pledge Gifts:  A gift that is spread over a period of time.  For example, a donor’s yearly gift may take the form of monthly or quarterly payments rather than one lump sum payment.

Securities:  Donors who choose to give appreciated stocks or other capital can claim a deduction based not on the purchase price, but rather on the fair market value of the gift at the time of the contribution.  Donors receive credit for the appreciated value and do not have to pay capital gains tax.

Gifts in Kind:  These are appropriate donated items or services which can be used, directly or indirectly, to further the Foundation’s mission.  The value of the gift and the tax deduction are based on the fair market value at the time of the donation.

Memorials/Honorariums.  Gifts may be given to honor an individual or to remember a special person who has passed away.  The Foundation will mail acknowledgment  cards to the appropriate people indicated by the donor.  You may choose to honor a person or persons for anniversaries, birthdays, or milestones in their lives as well.

Bequests:  A bequest is a gift provided for in a will.  The gift can take the form of cash, securities, real estate, or personal property.  It can be for a specified dollar amount or for a percentage of the final estate.  The bequest is entirely exempt from federal estate taxes.

Matching Gifts:  Many companies have programs that will match all or a portion of an employee’s charitable donation.  As an IRS 501(c)(3) rated charity, the Foundation is fully qualified for any matching gift program.

Donations to the Will County Farm Bureau Foundation are tax deductible!
